Established in 1986, Vanguard Composite Engineering (S) Pte. Ltd., then called Surtech Pte. Ltd., was founded in Singapore as a trading company involved in the supply of equipment to the Marine and Defense industries. It was largely involved in the South East Asian Region. In 2002, the directors decided upon a new direction. It was to get involved in the manufacture of Fibre Composite products for the Industrial, Automotive, Defence and Marine markets.  With this new direction, the name of the company was changed to Vanguard Composite Engineering Pte Ltd and a manufacturing base was established in China, under the name of Jiangyin Vanguard F.R.P. Co. Ltd.
					Apart from other products being manufactured for the other industries,Vanguard has designed and built its own range of totally enclosed lifeboats, freefall lifeboats and rescue boats.
